Abstract
A semi-micro method for the determination of nitrogen in nitro, nitros o, azo and hydrazine type of organic compounds without resorting to th e conventional distillation step is described. These compounds are red uced with tartaric acid to the amino form in the presence of sulphuric acid followed by digestion using a mixture of mercuric sulphate and p otassium sulphate. Ammonium sulphate thus formed is determined volumet rically by hypo-bromite oxidation. The same flask is used for reductio n, digestion and titration.
