Abstract
The dual objective of developing the present ballistic model is to pre dict an accurate force-time history in a monolithic thick plate due to penetration by a projectile, and to analytically describe the physica l phenomena that during a penetration experiment in conjunction with m easuring the physical parameters. The analytical model developed consi ders the evaluation, and prediction of the following quantities: (a) s hape and size of the cavity, (b) residual strength of the target, (c) depth of penetration in the target, (d) residual length of the project ile, (e) pressure distribution along the cavity wall and (f) force-tim e history for the penetration event.
