The kinetic parameters of peak 5 in the glow curve of LiF:Mg,Ti were s
tudied as a function of the duration of post irradiation annealing at
165 degrees C. All three kinetic parameters, E, s and b show important
changes as the duration of the anneal increases. Computerised glow pe
ak shape analysis shows that b increases from 1.2 +/- 0.05 (1 SD) foll
owing 5 min annealing to 1.72 +/- 0.07 (1 SD) following 30 min anneali
ng. Extrapolation to zero annealing time, however, results in a value
of b consistent with unity. The activation energy, E, increases from 1
.75 eV at 5 min annealing to a value of 2.0 eV after 15 min annealing
and then remains constant for longer annealing times. However, the pos
ition of isolated peak 5 (T-max) does not vary with dose illustrating
the weakness of this criterion for establishing first order kinetics.
