Abstract
Poor performance due to back pain is a common problem in the horse ind ustry. Alternative modalities using herbal medicine and acupuncture ar e useful and effective for this condition. Eleven acupuncture techniqu es for the treatment of equine back pain are summarized in this paper. Acupuncture treatment for back muscular atrophy and acupuncture mecha nism of pain relief are also discussed.
