Abstract
Virginia Henderson's story about sewing reflected her concern for nurs ing as practiced. She sewed a web of meaning from the fabric of nursin g practice that disclosed nursing as a complex practice, not merely pr escribed skills and behaviors. This tribute focuses on Henderson's con tributions to closing the rift between thinking and doing in nursing.
