A. Sircar et al., LASER-INDUCED BREAKDOWN OF AR, N-2 AND O-2 GASES USING 1.064, 0.532, 0.355 AND 0.266 MU-M RADIATION, Applied physics. B, Lasers and optics, 63(6), 1996, pp. 623-627
An experimental investigation of laser-induced breakdown using Nd:YAG
laser harmonics for argon, nitrogen and oxygen gases is reported. Pres
sure dependence as well as wavelength dependence of the breakdown thre
shold irradiance I-th is investigated. The experimental observations f
or 1.064 and 0.532 mu m laser wavelengths are in agreement with theore
tical calculations which include the effects of multiphoton ionization
and cascade ionization.
