Bv. Tyaglov et al., QUANTITATIVE CHROMATOGRAPHIC DETERMINATION OF VIRGINIAMYCIN ANTIBIOTICS, JPC. Journal of planar chromatography, modern TLC, 8(5), 1995, pp. 374-377
Analytical methods have been developed for determination of the indivi
dual components of Virginiamycin antibiotics during the process of mic
robiological synthesis. The reference substances (virginiamycins M1, M
2, and S1-S5) were extracted from the fermentation broth and purified
by preparative HPLC. Analysis of virginiamycin was performed by HPTLC
and HPLC. Coefficients of variation between the two techniques were ca
5 %, and there was good correlation (r = 0.993). Experimental results
demonstrate a relationship between component composition of the antib
iotics and the genetic strain of their producers.
