E. Hanus et al., PRESSURE ROLLING-CONTACT - STEADY-STATE FLOW-ANALYSIS AND COMPARISON WITH EXPERIMENTAL-DATA, International journal of solids and structures, 33(25), 1996, pp. 3739
In the present work the pressure rolling treatment has been modelled b
y a direct stationary method which gives the stabilized mechanical sta
te after complete rolling. One important input to the model is the pre
ssure distribution at the contact between the roller and the sample. D
ue to the conforming geometries of the bodies in contact it is found t
hat the pressure distribution differs from the one calculated with the
Hertz theory. The numerical outputs from the pressure rolling model h
ave been compared to experimental data, i.e. the residual stresses mea
sured by X-ray diffraction. A good agreement between experimental and
numerical results is obtained for the penetration depth and the residu
al stress profile. It is found that friction has a strong influence on
the surface residual stress. Copyright (C) 1996 Elsevier Science Ltd
