Ma. Elkemary, SPECTROSCOPIC AND ELECTRICAL-PROPERTIES OF CHARGE-TRANSFER COMPLEXES OF 1,5-DIMETHOXYNAPHTHALENE, Canadian journal of applied spectroscopy, 41(5), 1996, pp. 109-113
The crystalline charge transfer (CT) complexes formed between 1, 5-dim
ethoxynaphthalene [1] with some nitroaromatic acceptors of stoichiomet
ries 1:1 and 1:2 (donor: acceptor) are reported and discussed using uv
-visible diffuse reflectance spectra, infrared spectra and electrical
conductivity. The moderately weak interactions are discussed in terms
of transition energies electrical conductivities of the complexes and
electron affinities of the accepters. Electrical conductivity data rev
ealed that the complexes have semiconducting properties. A correlation
between the activation energies of conduction with the electron affin
ities of the accepters was illustrated.
