An angle-compensation sensor is described for measuring the shape of a
dragonfly wing. In this method, the displacement is measured using an
acousto-optic deflector and a quadrant position sensor. The displacem
ent of a plastic plate that has a reflectivity of 4% is measured using
this method. The displacement is then compared with that measured usi
ng a linear gauge and is found to have a standard deviation of 8 mu m
for a measured displacement range of 10 mm. The sensor is then applied
to measure the shape of a dragonfly wing.
