Binge-eating disorder, characterized by recurrent eating binges withou
t purging, affects a large number of individuals, especially among par
ticipants in weight loss programs. Recent studies have suggested that
antidepressants, particularly serotonin selective reuptake inhibitors,
may be effective in the treatment of binge-eating disorder. This pape
r reviews the findings of these studies and offers clinical guidelines
for the use of antidepressants in binge-eating disorder.
