Ss. Stavitskaya et al., PREPARATION AND STUDY OF NOVEL COMPOSITE ENTEROSORBENTS BASED ON POROUS MODIFIED CARBON-FIBERS AND SELECTIVE MINERAL SORBENTS, Russian journal of applied chemistry, 68(11), 1995, pp. 1571-1575
novel composite enterosorbent, Ultrasorb, in the form of pellets was p
roposed. The enterosorbent is based on a directionally modified carbon
fabric and clay mineral palygorskite and can be used as an efficient
prolonged-action preparation for correcting the salt composition of bi
ological fluids in the human body. Ultrasorb is used for treating ecol
ogy-dependent diseases through general detoxification of human body in
parallel with removal of radionuclides. A formulation with a variable
binding agent was developed, and the optimal parameters for producing
pellets of mired organomineral preparations were elucidated. Also, th
e structure-sorption characteristics of the starting components anti e
nd sorption products with respect to substances with various molecular
weights, as well as ilo radiocesium and radiostrontium, were determin
ed. The selectivity coefficients of the enterosorbent with respect to
the latter radionuclides in sorption from solutions simulating the bio
logical fluids of the human body were elucidated.
