Vv. Maslov et Ag. Izyumova, POLARIZATION AND RESISTIVITY STUDY OF TITANIUM IN NEUTRAL CHLORIDE SOLUTION, Russian journal of applied chemistry, 68(11), 1995, pp. 1576-1581
The total anodic voltammetric characteristics of titanium in chloride
solution at pH = 5.9 were determined for the first time by separation
of the anodic component from the cathodic polarization curves. The app
earance of anodic currents during cathodic polarization was confirmed
by resistivity measurements. The mechanism of electrochemical corrosio
n and passivation of titanium was proposed. The results obtained were
used io explain the poor resistance of titanium alloys to corrosion cr
acking in a certain interval of cathodic polarization potentials in ne
utral chloride solutions.
