Ag. Kazakevich et al., ON THE POTENTIAL USE OF HIGH-FREQUENCY IRRADIATION OF MELTS IN FOUNDRY AND METALLURGICAL PRACTICE, Russian metallurgy. Metally, (3), 1996, pp. 42-44
Theoretical analysis demonstrated that superposition or microwave radi
ation during control of temperature conditions in melting furnaces is
accompanied by vortical microprocesses in the melt. This makes it poss
ible to boost: the melting process in induction furnaces not at the ex
pense of overheating the melt. but rather under the action of soft the
rmal modes typical of microwave furnaces. High frequency irradiation o
f melts while pouring into molds upgrades the ingots and cuts foundry
losses of metal.
