Mj. Burkhard et Dj. Meyer, INVASIVE CYTOLOGY OF INTERNAL ORGANS - CYTOLOGY OF THE THORAX AND ABDOMEN, The Veterinary clinics of North America. Small animal practice, 26(5), 1996, pp. 1203
Invasive cytology of the thoracic and abdominal cavities can provide d
iagnostic information in a timely manner for the practitioner. The inf
ormation depends on obtaining a quality sample followed by thorough cy
tologic evaluation. As an adjunct to the historical and clinical infor
mation, cytology is valuable in establishing a diagnosis or a list of
differentials and directing future diagnostics or therapy. The applica
tion of cytology of internal organs opens a new window for the differe
ntial diagnosis of disease.
