We present five patients who developed luxury perfusion following ante
rior ischemic optic neuropathy in whom fluorescein angiography was mis
interpreted as ''capillary hemangioma'' or neovascularization of the d
isc. In each case, the segment of disc hyperemia corresponded to a spa
red region of visual field. Luxury per fusion represents a reparative
autoregulatory reaction to ischemia.
