Abstract
[Eu(o-ABA)(3)bipyl]bipy (where o-ABA = o-aminobenzoate and bipy = 2,2' -bipyridine) was synthesized and characterized by X-ray diffraction, I R and Raman spectra. In the crystal the compound exists as a dimer, ea ch europium atom is eight-coordinated and has one bipyridine molecule, one bidentate carboxylate group and four oxygen atoms from bridging c aboxylates. Luminescence data show that the complex contains one Eu-II I ion in a site with low symmetry. Copyright (C) 1996 Elsevier Science Ltd
