Eosinophilic pustular folliculitis (EPF) has been described mostly in
adults from Japan. From the few reports of children with EPF it is cle
ar that the disease displays the characteristic features, with some cl
inical differences compared to EPF ire adults. We describe the case of
an 8-year-old boy with multiple vesicles, pustules, and erythema mult
iforme-like lesions on the trunk and lower extremities. Results of his
topathologic examination revealed subcorneal and intraepidermal pustul
es, and an inflammatory infiltrate consisting of lymphocytes and eosin
ophils mainly with a perifollicular distribution. The patient also had
impaired chemotaxis, IgG3 subclass deficiency, and elevated IgF level
s.
