Abstract
Sulfadiazine anion exchange resin was prepared. Loading of the drug on to the resin was accomplished by the batch process. Drug-resin samples with different loaded concentrations were prepared. Microencapsulatio n of the drug-resin complex was carried out adopting a modified water/ oil/water (W/O/W) complex emulsion technique. The results revealed tha t Dowex 1-X8 (Cl-) can be used to prepare a drug-resin complex of sulf adiazine. The prepared complex was of high loading and exhibited a pro longed release profile of the drug. Microencapsulation of the complex with prolonged release of the medicament can be also formulated.
