Abstract
The kinetics of pulp swelling (WRV) during beating and refining was an alysed. A new, simple and theoretically consistent method for the veri fication of experimental kinetic data of pulp swelling is described. A ccording to this method, tile influence of both mechanical action and water medium on pulp swelling during beating and refining was analysed . The rate of pulp swelling increases also by increasing both the spec ific edge loag of the refiner and the repulsive hydration forces.
