A theoretical analysis of the batch macromixing process in stirred tan
ks was carried out. Quantitative relations were derived for liquid con
centration variance in various scales of scrutiny. A numerical model o
f turbulent macromixing was presented and solved for a wide range of p
rocess variables. The theoretical analysis along with the modelling re
sults led to some conclusions of remarkable importance to the theory a
nd practice of the process considered.
