Abstract
Granule cells of the dentate gyms can express neuropeptide-Y (NPY) in several models of epilepsy involving limbic seizures, however, the nat ure of this ectopic expression is not well understood at present. We h ave studied the expression of NPY-immunoreactivity in messy fibres con tralateral to a unilateral intrahippocampal injection of kainic acid a nd report that ectopic messy fibre NPY-immunoreactivity is observed th roughout the contralateral hippocampus.
