Abstract
Second grade models are now used to include a meso scale in continuous models. A simple one-dimensional second grade model is presented. Ana lytical solutions of boundary value problems involving such a model ar e established. This study shows that for such models non-uniqueness ca n be proved. This gives reference solutions which are used to test a f inite element model.
