Abstract
The rue Sous-les-Vignes or CF5 tephra is the first direct distal evide nce of trachyte eruptions in the Chaine des Puys to be recorded in a s equence at the beginning of the Holocene in Limagne. The mineralogical composition of this ash layer and its position within the tephrostrat igraphy of the Clermont-Ferrand basin suggests that it belongs to the Puy Lacroix covering which originate from the Kilian Crater (and may b e from Puy Vasset) during the Boreal.
