The creep properties of oxide dispersion strengthened (ODS) steels, DT
and DY alloys, were investigated in the temperature range 500-700 degr
ees C. The evaluation of the creep threshold stress was performed by c
reep dip tests. The Norton's creep law, corrected with this experiment
al threshold stress, gives a good description of the creep behaviour o
f DT and DY alloys. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) observation
s showed the dislocations to be pinned to the small oxide particles ba
sed on thermally activated dislocation detachment from oxide particles
. The results are discussed in the light of Arzt's model.
