Abstract
The cross section sigma for the positron-impact ionization of the hydr ogen atom near threshold has been evaluated analytically with the fina l-state wave function involving three Coulomb functions, Contrary to t he earlier result that sigma vanishes exponentially, we find the thres hold law as sigma similar to E(3/2).
