S. Mock et al., LOW-TEMPERATURE MAGNETIC AND THERMAL-PROPERTIES OF CEPD2IN IN MAGNETIC-FIELDS, Journal of low temperature physics, 104(1-2), 1996, pp. 95-107
A detailed study of the low-temperature magnetization M and specific h
eat C of CePd2In is reported. For B approximate to 0, M and C show max
ima at T-N approximate to 1.25 K indicating an antiferromagnetic phase
transition as observed previously. In a magnetic field B the transiti
on seen in M is shifted to lower T while T, as determined from the spe
cific-heat maximum is essentially unaltered up to fields of 6 T. This
different behavior is attributed to magnetic anistropy of the polycrys
talline samples. The hyperfine contribution to C is discussed in terms
of nuclear quadrupole splitting as well as Zeeman splitting by applie
d and transferred hyperfine fields. A rough estimate of the Kondo temp
erature from C sufficiently above T-N yields T-K approximate to 1.5 K.
