Cobalt(II) and nickel(II) complexes of benzil-alpha-monoxime-2-iminoet
hanethiol (BMETH(2)), benzil-alpha-monoxime-2-iminobenzenethiol (BMBTH
(2)), benzil-alpha-monoxime thiosemicarbazone (BMSH(2)) and benzil-alp
ha-monoxime semicarbazone (BMSH(2)) have been synthesized and characte
rized by elemental analysis, conductivity, magnetic susceptibility mea
surements, IR and electronic spectral data. The molar conductivities s
uggest that all dimeric complexes are non-electrolytes. The IR and mag
netic susceptibility data suggest that all the complexes have dimeric
structure with bridged oxime groups. The electronic spectral data sugg
est an octahedral structure for all [except (Co-BMET)(2) and (Co-BMBT)
(2)]-complexes. Various electronic spectral parameters have been calcu
lated and discussed.
