Abstract
The ligand N-1(2-carboxyethyl)biguanide (H(2)L) derived from dicyandia mide and beta-alanine forms 1:1 and 1:2 complexes with Cu(II) and only 1:2 complex with Ni(II). The complexes have been characterised on the basis of analytical, spectral and magnetic data. The 1:1 and 1:2 stoi chiometric complexes have been assigned respectively the square planar and octahedral geometry.
