Abstract
The effects of ionisable and non-ionisable surfactants on the polarogr aphic behaviour of TI(I) Pb(II), Sb(III), U(VI), Bi(III)), Cu(II), Cd( II), In(III), Cr(III) and Ti(IV) in acetate medium are described. The cationic surfactant, DDA(+), causes a little enhancement effect of mos t of the studied metal ions. The non-ionic surfactant, TX-100, causes a marked shifting of E(1/2) of all metal ions (except Tl(I)) to more n egative potentials. The anionic surfactant, DDSO4-, serves as an elect rochemical masking agent for In(III) wave but does not affect markedly the reduction waves of other metal ions. A method for determination o f In(III) in the presence of Cd(II), Tl(I), Pb(II), Cu(II), Cr(III) an d Ti(IV) using a mixture of anionic and non-ionic surfactants is propo sed. The i(I)/C results gave excellent correlations as indicated by th e least squares regression analysis.
