A review of recent experimental results obtained on the inorganic spin
-Peierls compound CuGeO3 is proposed. As the spin-Peierls phenomenon r
esults from the interplay between lattice and magnetic (quantum) fluct
uations, the presentation focuses on the different dynamical aspects o
f the problem. With CuGeO3, many points have been clarified and new re
sults acquired. However, it remains open questions which, due to the h
igh quality of the available crystals, can be expected to be solved in
the future.
