Within the context of finite-time thermodynamics, we propose a Diesel-
cycle model. In this model, we consider instantaneous adiabats and we
take all the cycle's time evolution as only ascribed to the isobaric h
eating and the isochoric cooling processes. The results we obtain for
the efficiency and the compression ratio of the cycle are in accordanc
e with typical real values of these quantities. Our results improve th
ose reported by H.S. Leff for the same cycle.
