TEACHING TO THE NATIONAL GEOGRAPHY STANDARDS THROUGH CHILDRENS PICTURE BOOKS

Grasping a knowledge of geography can be an exciting experience for ch ildren when it is developed by reading picture books. Many children's books depict the content of the National Geography Standards. This art icle reviews the standard's six essential elements and demonstrates ho w children's books can be used to teach geography. Each element and a particular standard are applied to a specific picture book.
