Abstract
With the growth of integrated curriculum, geography teachers are incre asingly faced with the challenge of promoting and teaching writing. Ma ny teachers lack confidence in writing instruction and resist withdraw als from their bank nf social studies time. This article presents a mo del fur structuring writing in the geography class with a focus on usi ng maps to prompt writing that will promote student interaction with g eographic concepts.
