Abstract
The objective of this research was to determine the effect of differen t fertilizers on nitrate contents in two lettuce cultivars, Iceberg an d Romana. Plants cultivated in a sandy-loam soil were fertilized with ammonium nitrate, calcium-nitrate, ammonium-sulphate, urea and oxamide (100, 200, 300 Kg Ha(-1)) and compared to a control with no added N. Several genotypes of lettuce (lactuca sativa L.) differed significantl y in N-NO3- accumulation. Nitrogen level and different fertilizers had influence nitrate content.
