Rn. Eshchenko et al., SPECIFIC FEATURES OF THE STRUCTURE OF TITANIUM - HYDROGEN AND TITANIUM - DEUTERIUM ALLOYS, Russian metallurgy. Metally, (5), 1994, pp. 58-62
The methods of optical and transmission electron microscopy (OM and TE
M) are used to investigate the morphology and dislocation structure of
phases forming in the process of saturation of titanium with hydrogen
and deuterium. Due to a wide range of H and D concentrations, the evo
lution of the structure was followed, beginning from the formation of
individual hydrides (deuterides) to the nearly perfect hydride state,
with concomitantly changing of phase dislocation structure. The observ
ed differences in the morphology of hydride and deuteride phases in ti
tanium are attributed to different diffusion mobility of hydrogen isot
opes.
