R. Ardekani et I. Yellowley, THE CONTROL OF MULTIPLE CONSTRAINTS WITHIN AN OPEN-ARCHITECTURE MACHINE-TOOL CONTROLLER, Journal of manufacturing science and engineering, 118(3), 1996, pp. 388-393
The authors demonstrate the utilization of a novel control architectur
e and associated algorithms in the maintenance of multiple constraints
arising from machining operations. The control architecture is config
ured to allow the most severe of a series of constraints to control th
e feedrate, and thus duplicates the procedure which would normally be
carried out in off-line optimization strategies. The use of the contro
l in the maintenance of force and chip thickness constraints is analyz
ed and demonstrated using turning operations as an example.
