Abstract
Sickle cell anemia is a multisystem disease that can affect the oral r egion. This article reviews previously reported oral complications ass ociated with this disease and describes the cause of these problems. A case history describes a patient with multiple oral problems after a sickle cell crisis. The diagnostic and management problems of this cas e are highlighted. The need for a multidisciplinary approach to the ca re of these patients is emphasized.
