S. Sungur et E. Emregul, APPLICATION OF CARBOXYMETHYLCELLULOSE IN CONTROLLED DRUG-RELEASE, Journal of macromolecular science. Pure and applied chemistry, A33, 1996, pp. 319-325
Controlled drug release was investigated by using Carboxymethylcellulo
se as carrier and erythromycin as model drug. Carboxymethylcellulose w
as chosen because of its biologically inert characteristics. It was cr
osslinked by ferric salts to obtain biodegradable beads. Controlled re
lease was improved by coating with gelatin/caboxymethylcellulose and b
y crosslinking with ferric salts/chromium sulfate.
