FRENCH ADAPTATION OF THE WAYS OF COPING CHECKLIST

A short form (42 items) of the Ways of Coping Checklist was administer ed to 468 French men and women. a factor analysis of the responses yie lded three factors, accounting for about 35% of the total variance, an d named Problem-focused Coping. Emotion-focused Coping, and Social Sup port seeking. The first two dimensions are close to those generally de scribed in the literature. some interesting relationships of scores ap peared between personality and coping, notably, between anxiety and em otion-focused coping.
