Abstract
A 20-year old female patient with systemic lupus erythematosus with bu tterfly-erythema, arthritis, high positive ANA and anti-ds-DNA titres has to have laparatomy because of an acute abdomen. Histological diagn osis is a necrotizing vasculitis of the appendix. In systemic lupus er ythematosus an intestinal vasculitis can be found which might be as se vere as in polyarteritis nodosa.
