Abstract
The rate of water oxidation by ceric, Ce-IV, ions mediated by a therma lly activated ruthenium dioxide hydrate redox catalyst is increased dr amatically by power ultrasound. The rate enhancement is greater than t hat expected on the basis of the particle size reduction caused to the catalyst dispersion by ultrasound and is most likely due to a decreas e in the diffusion layer thickness around the microelectrode particles .
