Abstract
A multifunction optoelectronic cellular neural network (OECNN) that co mbines an electronic CNN and metal-semiconductor-metal photodiodes (MS MPD's), is proposed in this brief, It has advantages in processing spe ed, circuit simplification (19 MOS transistors for each cell), and mul tifunction ability, The network architecture and cell design are prese nted and discussed, Finally, it is applied to three examples of image processing namely edge detection, shadow creation, and noise removal. Using HSPICE to simulate one 7 x 9 array and one 16 x 16 array we veri fy the multi functionality of the OECNN even under 10% variations in t he MSMPD's characteristics.
