INFLUENCE OF DIETARY ENERGY-LEVEL ON WATER-INTAKE OF CROSSBRED (BEETAL X ASSAM LOCAL) GOATS

Goats are among the most efficient domestic animals in the use of wate r approaching the camel in the low rate of water turnover per unit of body weight (Maloiy and Taylor, 1971). The water intake of goats is af fected by physiological states, environmental temperature, water and o ther nutrient content of feeding stuffs (NRC, 1981). There appears to be little or on information available regarding water Intake of crossb red (Beetal X Assam local) goals, whereas lots of informations are ava ilable about the dry matter intake (Baruah et al., 1988 and Saikia et al., 1995). Therefore, the present experiment was conducted to determi ne the water intake of crossbred goats and to study the influence of d ietary energy levels on it under stall fed condition.
