N. Gupta et al., COMPARATIVE-STUDY OF TOTAL AND DIFFERENTIAL LEUKOCYTIC COUNT IN VARIOUS PHYSIOLOGICAL STATES IN SAHIWAL COWS, Indian Veterinary Journal, 73(8), 1996, pp. 890-892
The study of total and differential leucocytic count, if properly inte
rpreted, are of value in diagnosis and aid in making a more accurate p
rognosis (Coles, 1986) in various pathological conditions. Such studie
s in various indigenous cattle breeds of India are scanty. Sahiwal is
one of the best milch breeds of India. The haematological picture and
chemistry of blood alters during different stages of growth and develo
pment (Schaffer at al., 1981). There is no published report on the tot
al leucocytic count and differential leucocytic count in various physi
ological states in these animals. The present study was undertaken to
get a correct picture of total leucocytic count and differential leuco
cytic count in Sahiwal cows under various physiological states.
