Abstract
For specified component properties, a computerised system enables inst ant precise selection of the optimum structural steel grade for harden ing and tempering from many stored on a hardenability database. Unlike the established graphical method based on hardenability, it allows a flexible choice of quenching conditions. The program also calculates o ptimum tempering temperature and all the resultant mechanical properti es.
