Abstract
Typically sustained exercise produces high levels of serum creatine ki nase, which has been believed to represent injury of skeletal muscle b ut not myocardium. In competitors in an ultramarathon race under extre me conditions, serum levels of cardiac troponin T were also found to b e elevated, suggesting such competition may induce myocardial injury.
