New potent histamine H-3-receptor antagonists containing an ether grou
p were synthesized from 3-(1H-imidazole-4-yl)propanol and various subs
tituted diphenylmethyl chlorides. Some of the designed ethers showed h
igh activity at histamine H-3-receptors under in vitro as well as unde
r in vivo conditions. Their activity at histamine H-1- and H-2-recepto
rs was also investigated proving a pharmacological H-3-/H-1-antagonist
ic profile. Copyright (C) 1996 Elsevier Science Ltd.
