This article discusses controversies in the field of offender treatmen
t and reviews what is known about treatment effectiveness. Thus far, v
ery little is known from research findings about effective treatments,
as few well-controlled studies have been conducted to date. Some inno
vative approaches to retaining men in treatment show promising results
. The article also focuses on definitions of program success and sugge
