Abstract
The development and current status of European legislation relating to the carcinogenicity classification of the range of aromatic naphtheni c and paraffinic process oils supplied to the rubber industry is revie wed. The available analytical markers and short-term tests for the ass essment of carcinogenic potential are reviewed and discussed in the co ntext of these oils.
